Printer Setup

Exporting your digital designs into beautiful physical cards.

Export Formats

CraftMyID offers two primary ways to export your generated batches: ZIP (PNGs) and PDF. The choice depends entirely on the type of hardware you are using to print.

1. Printing on PVC Thermal Printers

If you own a dedicated ID card printer (such as a Zebra, Fargo, Magicard, or Evolis), you should use the Download ZIP option.

  • Our ZIP export provides ultra-high resolution (300 DPI) individual PNG files.
  • The backgrounds are explicitly rendered as solid white to prevent any transparency issues in Windows Photo Viewer or proprietary printer software.
  • Simply extract the ZIP, select all the images, and send them directly to your ID card printer spooler.

2. Printing on Standard A4 / Letter Paper

If you are printing temporary event badges or school IDs on standard paper or cardstock using a regular inkjet/laser printer, use the Download PDF option.

  • Grid Layout: The PDF automatically arranges multiple cards in a perfect grid to save paper.
  • Cut Lines: Check the "Show Cut Lines" toggle before exporting. This adds a subtle dashed border around each card so you know exactly where to cut with scissors or a paper trimmer.

3. Double-Sided Printing (Duplex)

If your design has both a Front and Back side, our PDF exporter handles the complex alignment for you.

The system automatically groups the front sides on one page, and generates the back sides on the very next page. More importantly, it mirrors the layout of the back sides. This ensures that when you feed the paper back into a duplex printer (or let it flip automatically), the back of Card #1 perfectly aligns with the front of Card #1!
